In President Obama's speech he said, "Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide."
Our Lakeview students have gone on to be successful in many walks of life. One such success story is that of Dana Maksimovich. I had the pleasure of teaching Dana (she spelled her name "Donna", then) in the mid 1980s. Dana was an excellent student who worked hard and was a real joy to teach, because she always had a smile on her face and seemed to truly enjoy learning. She went on to become a movie producer who was an associate producer on the 2006 Academy Award winning film "Crash"; an outstanding movie that dealt with racial stereotypes.
